The Jaxaay neighborhood has been chosen to host the headquarters of the territorialized JOJ for Dakar 2026, a major event that aims to promote community development and democratize access to sports. This initiative is part of a partnership between the Municipal Development Agency (Adm) and the Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee (Cojoj). The event is expected to leave a lasting legacy in the Pikine, Guédiawaye, Keur Massar, and Rufisque departments.

As part of this partnership, several local infrastructure projects have been implemented, including the construction of multifunctional sports facilities in Dalifort (Pikine) and Keur Massar Nord. These projects, valued at over 2.2 billion FCfa, are supported by the World Bank and the Nordic Development Fund (Ndf). The program includes six synthetic grass football fields, two multifunctional fields, sports paths, and landscaped areas.

The management of these facilities will be overseen by a technical monitoring committee and communal Olympic cells, comprising local actors, sports associations, and education services. In addition to the infrastructure projects, various sports, cultural, and eco-citizen activities have been launched in 13 communes, involving over 650 athletes competing in ten disciplines.

The events include football, basketball, traditional wrestling, cycling, martial arts, and hiking. This mobilization was preceded by the "Sunu Joj Sunu Gox" caravan, which visited municipalities and met with young people. The territorialized JOJ headquarters in Jaxaay will host various activities, including football tournaments, martial arts demonstrations, pétanque competitions, and cultural events.

The headquarters, located on the sports field of Unité 9 in Jaxaay-Parcelles, will be open for nearly two weeks. The communes of Dalifort, Yeumbeul Sud and Nord, Jaxaay-Parcelles, Keur Massar Nord and Sud, Djiddah Thiaroye Kao, Médina Gounass, Wakhinane-Nimzatt, Sangalkam, and Tivaouane Peulh-Niaga are all participating in the event.

The Adm and Cojoj aim to make the Dakar 2026 JOJ a catalyst for youth mobilization, territory valorization, and sustainable development. The event also includes exhibitions on Adm projects and meetings with the media. This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Senegalese authorities to promoting sports and community development.

The Dakar 2026 JOJ will feature a range of activities and events, showcasing the country's rich cultural heritage and its passion for sports. With the territorialized JOJ headquarters in Jaxaay, the event is expected to have a lasting impact on the local community, promoting social cohesion and economic development.
