The West Bank has witnessed a significant escalation of Israeli actions since October 7, 2023, with a focus on military operations, demolitions, and seizures of properties. This has resulted in a new level of tension, with the confrontation no longer limited to streets, homes, and agricultural land, but also extending to the very memory of the Palestinian people. Israeli forces have been conducting widespread operations, including raids, arrests, and interrogations, as well as demolishing homes and infrastructure.

On Wednesday, Israeli forces launched a large-scale operation in several villages and towns northwest of occupied Jerusalem, involving raids, arrests, and field interrogations. The operation extended to the demolition of the ground floor of the home of prisoner Qadri Samara in the town of Badou, after evacuating nearby residents. This has led to some residents taking shelter in mosques. The operation also included raids on homes, detention of citizens, and field interrogations in several towns, including Beit Dqou, Beit Anan, Al-Qibeh, Beit Surik, and Qatna.

The Israeli forces have also been targeting memorials and signs bearing images of Palestinian fatalities. In the Jenin governorate, the forces notified the removal of several memorials and signs featuring images of Palestinians killed in recent years. This includes signs in Jenin city bearing images of three killed individuals, as well as a memorial with the image of Mahmoud Khalid Ararawi and another with the image of Tamer Azmi Nasrallah. These actions are part of a broader escalation of Israeli measures since October 7, 2023.

The demolition of memorials and signs has been accompanied by a surge in raids and arrests across the West Bank. Israeli forces have arrested three children in the villages of Deir Sharif and Qousin, west of Nablus, as well as Palestinians in Ramallah, Jenin, Tubas, and Bethlehem. The forces have also raided several towns and villages in Ramallah, Salfit, and Tulkarem, setting up roadblocks and checkpoints. In Tulkarem, the forces concentrated in the city center and surrounding areas, restricting movement and detaining individuals.

The escalation of Israeli actions has also been marked by an increase in settler violence against Palestinians and their property. Groups of settlers have attacked the Bedouin community of Ma'azi Jub'a, near the town of Jub'a, north of Jerusalem, injuring several citizens, burning homes and barns, and damaging vehicles. Similar attacks have been reported in Jenin, Qalqilya, Hebron, Nablus, Tulkarem, Ramallah, and Bethlehem. The United Nations has documented a significant rise in settler attacks, with over 1,600 incidents reported between January and August 2026.

The Israeli actions have resulted in significant displacement and humanitarian impact. The United Nations has reported that over 33,000 Palestinians have been displaced since January 2025 from the Tulkarem, Nur Shams, and Jenin camps and surrounding areas due to military operations and movement restrictions. Additionally, over 6,200 Palestinians, including over 3,000 children, have been displaced since January 2023 due to settler violence and demolition-related displacement. The situation remains dire, with many Palestinians facing loss of livelihoods and access to basic services.

The escalation of Israeli actions in the West Bank has been marked by a significant increase in demolitions and seizures of property. The United Nations has reported that Israeli authorities have demolished 86 Palestinian structures in a single week in September 2026, leading to displacement, loss of livelihoods, and disruption of services. The situation in the West Bank continues to deteriorate, with Palestinians facing significant challenges in accessing basic services, including water, sanitation, and healthcare.
