Israel has made its debut at the Marrakech Airshow with a national pavilion, marking a significant milestone in its expanding defense relationship with Morocco. The pavilion, which was announced by Israel's Ministry of Defense, features eight Israeli defense companies, including ASIO Technologies, Orbit Communication Systems, and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The exhibition, which runs from October 7 to 10, brings together civil aviation, military aerospace, and space industries. This public display of Israel's defense capabilities in Morocco underscores the growing ties between the two countries.

The Marrakech Airshow, held at the Royal Moroccan Air Force base, has attracted a range of international participants. Israel's International Defense Cooperation Directorate, known as SIBAT, headed the delegation. Brigadier General (Res.) Yair Kulas, head of SIBAT, described the debut as "an important milestone for the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Israeli defense industry." The exhibition features a range of technologies, including loitering munitions, artificial intelligence-powered robotics, and satellite communications. These systems have been described as "combat-proven," with operational experience being a central part of Israel's export pitch.

The Israeli defense companies participating in the exhibition have expressed interest in exploring partnerships with Moroccan companies. Orbit Communication Systems' executive vice president for global sales and business development, Samuel Snir, outlined plans to find a Moroccan partner for production and potential joint design work. The company, established 76 years ago, specializes in audio management systems, mobile satellite communications, and ground systems. Its equipment is primarily used for military applications and is compatible with different modems and platforms.

Other Israeli companies, such as XTEND and SHILAT Optronics, have also identified Morocco as a market for future cooperation. XTEND's vice president for global partnerships and integrated defense systems, Shahar Shoshana, presented the exhibition as an opportunity to develop strategic cooperation in Morocco around autonomous systems. SHILAT Optronics develops electro-optical technologies and laser-based guidance for FPV drones, emphasizing precision, compact design, and scalable production.

The Israeli Defense Ministry has explicitly linked its strategy to increasing exports, strengthening the Israeli military's capabilities, supporting foreign policy, and bolstering the defense industry and economy. An Israeli Defense Ministry official described the Moroccan debut as "another milestone in our relations with the Kingdom of Morocco." The official credited the welcome to Morocco's administration, Royal Armed Forces (FAR), and National Defense Administration, led by King Mohammed VI.

The relationship between Israel and Morocco extends beyond arms sales, with local manufacturing among the opportunities under consideration. Israeli executives have expressed gratitude for the hospitality of Morocco's administration and highlighted the people-to-people dimension of the relationship. Israeli Military Attaché Colonel Sharon Itach was also present at the exhibition and briefly addressed Morocco World News in Moroccan Darija.

The Marrakech Airshow debut marks a significant step in Israel's defense relationship with Morocco, which was restored under the Abraham Accords. The exhibition has provided a platform for Israeli companies to showcase their capabilities and explore new opportunities for cooperation in the region. Key participants, including Orbit Communication Systems and XTEND, have expressed interest in developing strategic partnerships with Moroccan companies.
