The International Rescue Committee (IRC), a humanitarian organization founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, is currently seeking an Administrative Volunteer to join their team in Kampala, Uganda. The Administrative Volunteer will play a crucial role in providing administrative coordination and program support to the Country Director's Office. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day coordination, including meeting preparation, scheduling, documentation, correspondence, and follow-up of action points. The volunteer will also support program monitoring and coordination by maintaining trackers, compiling updates, and following up on pending actions.
The Administrative Volunteer will work closely with the Country Director and relevant IRC departments to facilitate effective communication, organization, and follow-up of priorities, meetings, and activities involving the Country Director's Office. The role requires a high level of organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
To qualify for this position, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, management, development studies, social sciences, international relations, project management, or a related field. While experience in a similar role is not required, it will be considered an added advantage. The successful candidate must be able to work independently while being a strong team player.
The Administrative Volunteer will be responsible for maintaining organized electronic and physical records for the CD's Office, supporting the preparation of presentations, briefing notes, reports, and other documents. The role will also involve assisting with monitoring program and organizational activities, maintaining relevant trackers, and coordinating with Programs, Operations, Finance, HR, and other teams to obtain and consolidate information.
In addition to administrative tasks, the Administrative Volunteer will support the coordination of visits, events, meetings, and other CD engagements. The role will also involve assisting with routine data collection, data compilation, and preparation of summaries as required. The successful candidate must possess strong written and oral English communications skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
