Abdel Motalib Amer, to improve cleanliness and maintain the city's aesthetic appeal, Luxor City Council, led by Dr. Ali El-Sharabey, has initiated comprehensive cleaning campaigns. These efforts target key streets, vital areas, and tourist zones to elevate the city's hygiene standards. The campaigns are supervised by Hatem Gaber Salem, Secretary of Luxor City.
The nighttime cleaning operations included a significant campaign along the Corniche and in front of the Karnak Temple area, extending to the Tella region and the ship fueling station. Another campaign focused on cleaning the Omarari facility road and the central islands along a 4-kilometer stretch. Regular emptying of garbage containers in the airport area was also conducted to prevent waste accumulation.
The Sheraton Street witnessed a cleaning campaign utilizing equipment from the southern region's second cleaning zone, stretching from the "KFC" square to the Sheraton Hotel entrance. This aimed to remove dust residues and enhance cleanliness and traffic flow on the street. Additionally, cleaning teams continued their work using mechanical sweepers to suction dust and sweep streets, covering areas like Salmi Salim Street, the Karnak Temple entrance, and the Corniche.
Emphasizing the importance of archaeological and tourist areas, executive authorities carried out a comprehensive cleaning campaign within the Karnak Temple square and entrance. This included removing waste and trash, cleaning surrounding areas, and washing sidewalks at the temple entrance and Salmi Salim Street. The direct environment of the "Karnak Park" garden also received attention.
Officials participating in these campaigns included Ashraf Saad El-Din Mahdi, head of the Airport District, Youssef Mohamed Ali, head of the North District, and Abdel Haq Fathi, deputy head of the district. These efforts are part of a coordinated plan to improve and maintain cleanliness and services for residents.
