The inauguration of three mini-water towers took place on November 4, 2026, in the localities of Cotontchad, Erdé, and Moursalet. The water towers, each with a capacity of 20 cubic meters, were donated by the association La Plume pour la Culture et le Développement, in partnership with Al Najat Charity. The project aims to provide sustainable access to clean drinking water for the local population, who previously had to travel long distances to fetch water from open wells.

The local population had been relying on water from open wells, which is a source of waterborne diseases. The new water towers are equipped with solar-powered boreholes, elevated reservoirs, and four public water fountains. The project is expected to benefit over 6,000 people, providing them with a reliable source of clean drinking water. The president of La Plume pour la Culture et le Développement, Dr Daïrou Youssouf Sidiki, expressed his satisfaction with the project's completion.

The delegate general of the government in the Mayo-Kebbi ouest province, Abdelmanane Kathab, attended the inauguration ceremony and praised the initiative. He emphasized that access to clean drinking water is a basic social service and a cornerstone of public action. The government has been working tirelessly to modernize the province, reduce territorial disparities, and ensure that every Chadian has access to a better life.

The delegate general also urged the beneficiaries to protect the water towers from vandalism and to establish a management committee in each locality to ensure their maintenance. The keys to the installations were handed over to the three management committees set up in each locality after the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony at Moursalet.

The project is seen as a significant step towards improving the living conditions of the local population. The association La Plume pour la Culture et le Développement has demonstrated its commitment to contributing to the development of the region. The partnership with Al Najat Charity has made it possible to implement this project, which will have a lasting impact on the lives of the beneficiaries.

The water towers are expected to have a positive impact on the health and well-being of the local population. The reduction in waterborne diseases is anticipated, and the local population will have more time to devote to other activities, such as agriculture and education. The project is a testament to the importance of collaboration between government agencies, NGOs, and local communities in achieving development goals.

The successful implementation of this project is a significant milestone in the efforts to improve access to clean drinking water in Chad. The government and its partners are committed to continuing their efforts to ensure that every Chadian has access to this basic necessity. The inauguration of the water towers is a cause for celebration, and the beneficiaries are looking forward to a brighter future with access to clean drinking water.
