In a show of solidarity, hunters and non-indigenes residing in Ogun State have pledged to vote massively for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election. The groups, operating under the umbrella of Ilupeju Egba Hunters Association and Association of Non-Indigenes in Ogun State, expressed their positions during separate meetings with Chief Segun Sowunmi, convener of Pan Nigerian movement campaigning for Tinubu's re-election.

The meetings, which took place in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, saw Seriki Ode of Egbaland, Chief Bamigbose Olusegun, speaking on behalf of the hunters, assuring Sowunmi of their support. He expressed confidence that Tinubu would consolidate on the good works of the All Progressive Congress (APC) administration. On behalf of non-indigenes, Chief Francis Nweze, urged Sowunmi to continue his support for non-indigenes residing in the state.

Addressing the meetings, Sowunmi described the 2027 election as an opportunity to demonstrate support for the rotation of political power to the South. He emphasized his longstanding relationship with communities from different parts of Nigeria resident in Ogun, regarding them as part of the "Ogun tribe" – a broad identity encompassing everyone who lives, works, and contributes to the development of the state.

In a related development, the 52-Youth Coalition in Kwara State has declared support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid. The coalition, made up of young professionals drawn from the 52 wards of Kwara Central, believes Tinubu remains the only option currently available for the next year's general election. They faulted the purported claim of APC governors that the emergence of Rainbow Coalition would affect Tinubu's re-election chances.

The 52-Youth Coalition is working with similar groups in Kwara South and Kwara North to build a statewide platform focused on accountability, security, economic opportunities, and democratic participation. Their support for Tinubu at the national level does not amount to an endorsement of the ruling APC government in Kwara, adding that voters could support different political parties for different elective offices.

According to the group, such arrangements are not new to Nigerian politics, citing the 1999 and 1983 elections. The coalition's Deputy Central Coordinator, Mr. Issa Abdulgafar Arikewuyo, made these remarks at a press conference on the state of the nation in Ilorin.

The various groups' endorsement of Tinubu's re-election bid is a boost to his campaign, as he seeks to consolidate his programs for the people of Nigeria. The development also underscores the importance of building alliances and garnering support from diverse groups across the country.
