The Huduma Centre in Tharaka Nithi is urging residents to collect their unclaimed government documents, as hundreds of processed documents remain uncollected. According to the centre's manager, Ms. Rosemary Kaloki, the uncollected documents include essential papers such as birth and death certificates, as well as identity cards. The centre is making efforts to reach applicants and encourage them to collect their documents.

A total of 111 birth certificates, six death certificates, 479 new identity cards, and 2,587 duplicate identity cards are currently uncollected at the centre. Ms. Kaloki attributed the high number of uncollected documents to applicants providing incorrect contact details, making it difficult for the centre to notify them once their documents are ready. This has resulted in a significant backlog of uncollected documents.

The Huduma Centre is taking steps to address the pending cases and improve service delivery. Ms. Kaloki stated that the centre uses various methods to reach applicants, including messages, phone calls, media engagements, and publicity. The centre is also encouraging residents to confirm the status of their applications by visiting the Huduma Centre or checking through cyber services and the e-Citizen platform.

To enhance the processing of documents and reduce waiting time for applicants, the centre is set to acquire a biometric kit. Ms. Kaloki expressed optimism that the new equipment will significantly improve the centre's efficiency. She urged residents with pending or uncollected documents to follow up through the appropriate channels and collect them once notified.

The Huduma Centre provides various government services under one roof, enabling residents to access essential services without travelling to different government offices. This integrated approach aims to streamline government services and make them more accessible to the public. Residents have expressed satisfaction with the services provided by the centre.

One resident, Deborah Jeruto, a Chuka University student, visited the centre to rectify a mistake made while applying for HELB services. She rated the services at the centre nine out of ten, indicating a high level of satisfaction with the centre's services. The centre's efforts to contact applicants and introduce additional equipment are expected to facilitate the collection of pending documents and enhance efficiency in government service delivery.

The centre's manager, Ms. Kaloki, encouraged residents to collect their documents and urged those who had applied for documents to confirm the status of their applications. With the new biometric kit and continued efforts to reach applicants, the Huduma Centre aims to clear the backlog of uncollected documents and improve service delivery.
