Huawei recently participated as a Platinum partner in the first edition of TeleHealth Connect Tunisia 2026, held from September 29 to October 1, 2026, in Tunis. The event, held under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, focused on the challenges of digital transformation in healthcare systems. The summit brought together representatives from public institutions, healthcare professionals, international experts, researchers, and technology players to discuss opportunities and challenges related to the development of digital health.
The opening ceremony featured interventions from Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, and Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director-General of the Africa CDC, followed by a welcome address from Mohamed Ben Amor, Director-General of the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization (AICTO). Several high-ranking personalities and representatives from diplomatic and international institutions, as well as the healthcare sector, attended the session. Adnane Ben Halima, Vice President of Huawei for North Africa, also spoke during the opening session.
In his opening speech, Adnane Ben Halima emphasized the importance of accessibility and equity in the digital transformation of healthcare. He highlighted the role of telemedicine in bringing patients closer to medical expertise, regardless of their location, as well as the potential of artificial intelligence to support healthcare professionals in their practice. Ben Halima also stressed that AI cannot be dissociated from the infrastructure that enables its large-scale deployment.
The summit's discussions continued with a panel on the role of artificial intelligence in healthcare sovereignty and equitable access to care, in which Adnane Ben Halima participated. The discussions focused on the possibilities offered by AI to support healthcare professionals, particularly in fields such as radiology and pathology, while emphasizing the importance of reliable, secure, and interconnected digital infrastructures.
Other Huawei representatives, including Youssef Boukari, CTO of Data Communication Solution, Northern Africa Enterprise, Huawei Tunisia, and Ibrahim Arafoui, Senior Solution Manager, Huawei, participated in discussions on strengthening equitable access to diagnostic medical imaging services through teleradiology and intelligent healthcare spending. Their contributions highlighted the role of infrastructure, connectivity, and digital technologies in the evolution of healthcare systems.
Huawei's booth at the event showcased several solutions dedicated to the digital health ecosystem, including IP Domain, AI Data Center, and Digital Hospital Remote Consultation. These solutions illustrate the different technological building blocks necessary for building a connected, intelligent, and secure digital health environment. Through its participation in TeleHealth Connect Tunisia 2026, Huawei shared its expertise and exchanged with various stakeholders on the conditions for making digital technology a concrete lever for improving healthcare services.
