Huachen International Supply Chain Limited, a company operating in the logistics and supply chain industry, has announced a job opening for a Fleet Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the company's fleet and staff operations in Ndola, Zambia. The position is part of the Flat and Acid Fleet Department, and the company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role. The Fleet Operations Manager will be responsible for vehicle dispatching and on-route operation management, including taking overall charge of fleet dispatch and route planning within Zambia and for cross-border transportation. The manager will also establish an emergency response mechanism to efficiently handle unexpected incidents such as vehicle breakdowns in transit, traffic accidents, and detentions at checkpoints. This will ensure safe and on-time delivery of cargo to various destinations, including mining sites in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In addition to vehicle dispatching and on-route operation management, the Fleet Operations Manager will be responsible for fuel management, cost control, policy compliance, and asset management. The manager will need to control fuel issuance, review and manage fleet and driver expenses, and ensure documentary evidence for every payment. The manager will also need to renew local transport permits, follow up on accident claims, and oversee the full-cycle process of damage assessment, incident reporting, and insurance claims.
The Fleet Operations Manager will also be responsible for team management, including assisting in formulating and implementing daily management rules, safe-driving training, and performance-based compensation assessment systems for local and cross-border drivers. The manager will need to cooperate with the Admin and HR departments to properly handle local and cross-border drivers' onboarding, resignation, disciplinary cases, and potential labor-office disputes.
To qualify for the position, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Transport and Logistics Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or any relevant field. They must also have at least three years of hands-on experience in cross-border fleet management or logistics/transportation. Proficiency in Office software, including Excel and Word, is also required, as well as strong data analysis capabilities.
The successful candidate must be a paid member of the Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (ZCILT) and a resident in Ndola, or willing to relocate. The candidate must also be thoroughly familiar with the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Zambia route, including all toll stations, rest stops, inspection points, and the distances between each route. A high sense of responsibility, meticulous work ethic, and strong management and execution skills are also required.
