The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has urged the Chief of Defence Staff to take disciplinary action against a military officer, Lieutenant Albert Goh, over an alleged truck seizure incident in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency. According to Hon. Sam George, Lieutenant Goh and other soldiers entered the area heavily armed, confiscated trucks belonging to residents without lawful authority, and mistreated local people.

Describing the alleged conduct as similar to armed robbery, Mr George said the soldiers had no justification for taking citizens' property. He accused Lieutenant Goh of being a disgrace to the Ghana Armed Forces and called for his dismissal. The Minister stated that the soldiers used the seized trucks for about two weeks without lawful authorisation and disrespected a police commander, a Chief Superintendent, who tried to engage them.

Hon. Sam George further alleged that some soldiers involved in the operation allegedly cocked their weapons at the police commander. He said their conduct fell short of the standards expected of members of the Ghana Armed Forces and maintained that the people of Ningo-Prampram deserved justice. The Minister claimed to have obtained the names of the soldiers involved and vowed to pursue the matter through the appropriate military disciplinary channels.

Hon. Sam George announced that he would raise the matter with the Minister of Defence to ensure the military authorities investigate the incident and hold those involved accountable. He also warned soldiers against returning to brutalise residents, saying any soldier who comes to Ningo-Prampram to brutalise the people again would face the law.

The incident has sparked concerns about the conduct of some military personnel and the need for accountability within the Ghana Armed Forces. The Minister's call for Lieutenant Goh's dismissal is seen as a move to restore trust and demonstrate that such behaviour will not be tolerated. The military authorities are yet to comment on the incident.
