HID has announced enhancements to its FARGO DTC ID card printers, including the DTC1250e, DTC4500e, and DTC1500 models. These upgrades aim to help organizations issue secure, professional-quality ID cards faster and with less IT support. The enhancements address the need for easy-to-operate printers that produce high-quality credentials and keep pace with growing security requirements. This move is expected to benefit various sectors, including schools, healthcare systems, government offices, and corporate campuses. The upgrades focus on improving print quality, strengthening security, and simplifying ID card issuance. HID's FARGO DTC printers are widely used across different industries.

The latest enhancements to the FARGO DTC printers focus on improving speed and reliability. The printers have been updated with newer, faster hardware and electronics platforms, allowing for high-volume credential issuance with fewer interruptions. Support for high-capacity ribbons streamlines the issuance workflow, reducing reloads and lost time. This means that front-desk and HR staff can issue dozens of badges a day with shorter lines and less waiting time. According to Apryl Erickson, VP and Head of FARGO, the company has been a leader in ID badging programs for over three decades. HID's solutions provide greater value to end-users and support their mission-critical issuance processes.

The enhanced FARGO DTC printers offer improved card quality with 300 x 600 dpi resolution, an enhanced color profile, and adjustable K-panel printing. This results in professional-quality ID cards with sharper images, crisper text, cleaner logos, and more accurate color. The printers also offer enhanced security features, including AES-256-GCM encryption and resin scramble data protection. Additionally, the DTC1500 and DTC4500e models come with a built-in, customizable watermark overlay, adding an extra layer of security at no added cost. These features are designed to enhance card security and safeguard cardholder data.

The enhanced DTC printers are designed to provide reliable and sustainable performance with less downtime. They are backed by three-year product warranties and offer ongoing printer health monitoring. The printers are engineered for efficient energy use and have integrated diagnostic utilities and Color Assist tools. These features help identify and resolve common issues without requiring a support call. An optional OLED SmartScreen on the DTC1250e further simplifies day-to-day operation, enabling non-technical staff to be productive from day one without needing IT support.

The FARGO DTC printers are designed to be scalable, allowing organizations to start with what they need and add capabilities later without buying new base hardware. The printers offer field-upgradable dual-side printing and encoding options, making it easy to expand programs as needs grow. The DTC1500 and DTC4500e models are compatible with FARGO Connect, a secure, cloud-based card printing platform that provides real-time fleet visibility. This allows organizations to monitor and manage their printer fleet remotely.

The enhanced FARGO DTC printer portfolio is commercially available now, with product availability for enhanced FARGO DTC1250e and DTC4500e printers slated for late October/early November. Enhanced FARGO DTC1500 units will follow later in Q4 2026. HID plans to further expand the FARGO DTC portfolio later this year with a streamlined, single-sided printer designed for organizations with lower-volume issuance needs. This new model will be available in select regions outside the United States and Canada.
