Lagos State Deputy Governor and Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, have called on Lagosians to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and vote for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections. The duo made the appeal at the Constituency Outreach tagged 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment, held at the National Stadium, Surulere.
Dr. Hamzat emphasized that the APC has grown into the dominant political party in Nigeria through sustained engagement with the people and its grassroots structures. He noted that the party's strength lies in its ability to connect directly with citizens and respond to their needs through various initiatives and empowerment programs. Hamzat expressed gratitude to Hon. Gbajabiamila for the initiative, saying it is a demonstration of the party's commitment to serving and empowering citizens.
Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila disclosed that the empowerment program is designed to give back to society and create sustainable opportunities for beneficiaries. He highlighted various people-oriented programs initiated and executed by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration since its inception. Gbajabiamila called on constituents to ensure that they return the President to power in 2027 and also vote for all APC candidates in the State for continuity and sustainable development.
The 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment program provided benefits to about 5000 residents, with 4018 beneficiaries receiving cash gifts of N250,000 each and 348 beneficiaries receiving N500,000 each as cash support. Additionally, the program provided 61 electric vehicles, 50 electric tricycles, 60 mini-buses, 100 laptops, four 18-seater Toyota Hiace buses, two security patrol vehicles, and a medical ambulance.
Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Senator Wasiu Esinlokun-Sanni, commended the Gbaja empowerment initiative, noting that it is part of efforts to improve the welfare of residents and create opportunities that could support individuals and small businesses. He praised the initiative for providing benefits to the people of Surulere.
The Lagos State All Progressives Congress, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, urged beneficiaries of the empowerment program to ensure that the items and support received are put to productive use and translated into meaningful benefits for their families and the wider community. He described the empowerment program as laudable and commended Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for his passion for the welfare and wellbeing of the people.
The Executive Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Hon. Suliaman Bamidele Yusuf, described the initiative as a demonstration of Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila's commitment to reducing poverty, creating wealth, and improving the livelihoods of residents. He appreciated Hon. Gbajabiamila for the support and initiatives that had continued to impact positively on residents of the local government.
