According to Bachir Diallo, Deputy Director General of ANAIM and President of the Hospital's Management Committee, healthcare is a vital aspect of the agency's social responsibility. The hospital has expanded its capacity from 63 beds when it was established in 1973 to 176 beds today, with a goal to become a top-tier healthcare facility in Guinea. To achieve this, ANAIM has invested heavily in infrastructure, equipment, and human resources, with new medical specialties and services being introduced.
The hospital has undergone significant renovations, including the upgrade of its water supply and conservation systems, as well as the construction of new buildings and services. Its technical capabilities have been enhanced with new equipment, such as anesthesia and intensive care ventilators, monitoring systems, and laboratory automation. Additionally, the pediatric department has been equipped with phototherapy units to improve the treatment of newborn jaundice.
Staff training and development have also been prioritized, with medical professionals sent for training in Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire, and new specialist doctors recruited. The hospital now has 41 general practitioners and 29 specialists, including eight expatriate doctors. New medical practices have been introduced, such as minimally invasive surgery, proctochirurgie, and endoscopic surgery for hemorrhoidal pathologies.
The hospital has also strengthened its collaboration with the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG), which provides comprehensive healthcare coverage for its employees and their families. The CBG's healthcare services are primarily provided through on-site dispensaries, with more complex cases referred to ANAIM Hospital. This partnership has contributed to the hospital's growth and improvement in services.
Despite progress made, hospital administrators and CBG officials acknowledge that further investments are needed to enhance the hospital's technical capabilities and staff expertise. Cardiology, interventional imaging, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are among the priority areas identified for development. These upgrades would enable the hospital to provide more comprehensive care and reduce the need for medical evacuations.
