The Ministry of Industry and Trade in Guinea has announced the seizure of 14,759 cartons of BAMA mayonnaise, imported and marketed by GB FOODS WEST AFRICA. This decision follows reports of quality issues with certain batches of the product. As investigations continue, the Ministry has called on consumers and traders to immediately suspend the consumption, sale, and distribution of the affected products.
According to the Ministry, samples of the implicated batches are currently undergoing physico-chemical and microbiological analysis by the National Quality Control Office (ONCQ). Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to consume them and to keep them at the disposal of the ONCQ, pending further instructions. The Ministry has also set up a hotline for consumers who may have experienced adverse reactions after consuming the mayonnaise, urging them to seek medical attention or call 627 24 53 27.
Importers, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers holding the affected batches are required to suspend all stock movements, declare these products to the ONCQ, and facilitate control operations. The Ministry has initiated administrative procedures against the company concerned, in accordance with current regulations, and has demanded an exhaustive inventory of imported, distributed, and transit stocks.
The Ministry has warned that any failure to comply with these measures will result in sanctions, as provided by the legislation in force. The Ministry reiterates its commitment to protecting consumer health and ensuring the sanitary safety of products on the Guinean market. The public will be informed of the outcome of this affair as soon as the analysis results are published.
