On Wednesday, Guinea's Minister of Urban Planning, Housing, and Territorial Development, Mohamed Lamine Sy Savané, visited the Koloma administrative city site to assess the progress of the ongoing construction works. The visit comes after President Mamadi Doumbouya's recent inspection of the site. During his visit, the minister instructed his teams to accelerate the liberation of the site to enable the continuation of the construction project, which is expected to be completed by December 31, 2026.
The minister ordered the removal of all obstructions on the site, including the relocation of installations belonging to the Société des Eaux de Guinée (SEG) and fiber optic networks that are hindering the progress of the works. He also instructed his teams to work with relevant stakeholders to take all necessary measures to facilitate the displacement of these installations. The minister emphasized the need for all state services to collaborate to liberate the site and enable the contractor, Guicopres, to access the area and complete the works within the stipulated deadline.
The minister stressed that the project must be completed by December 31, 2026, and urged all state services, including the Electricity Distribution Company of Guinea (EDG), SEG, and the Regulatory Authority for Posts and Telecommunications (ARPT), to take necessary measures to allow Guicopres to carry out the works without hindrance. The minister's visit and instructions are aimed at ensuring the timely completion of the project, which involves the construction of roads and infrastructure in the Koloma administrative city.
The state is also carrying out decongestion operations in the areas surrounding the administrative city, where garages, slums, and bars have been occupying the spaces. During his visit, Minister Sy Savané announced that the process of liberating the site will be accelerated in line with the directives of President Mamadi Doumbouya. The minister expressed hope that the entire area will be cleared of obstructions within a week, enabling the state to make the spaces available for development.
The Koloma administrative city project is part of a larger plan to develop a central business district in the area. Once completed, the site will accommodate various state services, including the National Assembly, and will feature modern infrastructure and buildings. The minister assured that immediately after the site is cleared, measures will be taken to secure the area and prevent unauthorized access.
The construction of the Koloma administrative city is a key project for the Guinean government, aimed at modernizing the country's infrastructure and providing a new hub for state services. The project involves the construction of roads, buildings, and other infrastructure, and is being carried out by Guicopres, the contractor appointed by the government. The project's progress has been closely monitored by President Doumbouya, who has emphasized the need for its timely completion.
The government's efforts to liberate the site and accelerate the construction of the Koloma administrative city are part of a broader strategy to develop Guinea's infrastructure and promote economic growth. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the country's development and provide new opportunities for businesses and citizens alike.
