The Guinean Minister of Industry and Trade, Aboubacar Kourouma, presided over the reception ceremony of rapid analysis kits for food products at border posts on August 9, 2026. The kits were handed over to the National Bureau of Inspection and Quarantine (BNIQ) to enhance the control of imported and exported products. This initiative aims to ensure the quality of products entering and leaving Guinea.
The ceremony was followed by a visit to the modern SCALE laboratory, designed to strengthen quality control of products destined for consumption. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to facilitate the analysis of food products. The BNIQ coordinator, Ousmane Mayani Diallo, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the vision of the Guinean authorities, led by President Mamadi Doumbouya.
The BNIQ plays a crucial role in coordinating activities among various sectors involved in border control, including agriculture, livestock, health, fisheries, and mining. The bureau's mission is to guarantee the quality of products entering and leaving Guinea. Boubacar Cissé, a BNIQ inspector, explained the different stages of the control process, including declaration, document evaluation, physical inspection, and sampling for rapid testing.
The rapid analysis kits will enable BNIQ agents to verify the conformity of products with presented documents and assess related risks. The minister, Aboubacar Kourouma, stressed that this project aligns with President Doumbouya's transformation vision through the Simandou 2040 national development program. He emphasized the importance of operational efficiency, protection of the local market, and acceleration of commercial exchanges through product certification.
The minister called for rigorous control of the quality of imported and exported products, stating that Guinea should not be a dumping ground for inferior products and should not pollute other territories. The reception of these kits, the visit to the SCALE laboratory, and the training of agents constitute a significant step in strengthening the national control system.
Through this initiative, the BNIQ aims to contribute to consumer protection, preservation of the national market, and promotion of Guinean products that meet quality requirements. The project is expected to enhance the country's capacity to control the quality of food products and promote safe trade practices.
The implementation of this project is expected to have a positive impact on Guinea's trade and consumer protection. The BNIQ's efforts to strengthen quality control will help to build trust in the country's products and enhance its reputation in the international market.
