The election took place at the youth desk’s annual general meeting (AGM), held at Avoca Primary School on August 15, 2026. Other activities included youth competitions, educational debates, essay-writing initiatives linked to the Junior Commissioner Programme, poetry competitions and career days. These initiatives demonstrate the youth desk's commitment to community service and education.

The youth desk acknowledged former chairpersons Ashlin Ellan and Sapna Kissoon for their leadership and for helping establish a standard for the organisation’s work. This vision is at the heart of the youth desk's mission and will guide its programme of activities for the remainder of 2026 and beyond.

In a statement, the public relations officer, Chanel Pillay, thanked members and stakeholders who had contributed to the youth desk’s work.
