The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has announced a new admission ticket price increase, effective November 1, 2026, following approval from its Board of Directors on October 26, 2026. The price hike will add EGP 20 to tickets for Egyptian visitors and USD 5 to tickets for foreign visitors, depending on the ticket category. This change aims to manage the museum's growing popularity and enhance the overall visitor experience.
Under the new pricing system, Egyptian adults will pay EGP 220, while students, children, and seniors over 60 will pay EGP 110. In contrast, Arab and foreign visitors will pay EGP 1,830 for adult tickets, and EGP 920 for students and children. Arab and foreign residents of Egypt will pay EGP 920 for adult admission, with tickets for students and children priced at EGP 460. These new prices will apply to the museum's different visitor categories.
To manage large crowds and improve the visitor experience, the GEM introduced timed entry on November 16, 2025. All visitors must now book tickets in advance for a specific entry time and arrive during their allocated slot. This process requires visitors to book their tickets in advance and arrive at the designated time slot specified in their reservation, which can be accessed and booked via GEM's official website.
The GEM is set to host a series of cultural experiences and events in November, offering visitors more reasons to visit. Starting November 1, 2026, the museum will launch Eternal Sun, a 35-minute immersive experience that transforms the Grand Hall into a spectacle of light, music, and storytelling. This event aims to provide an engaging experience for visitors of all ages.
In addition to Eternal Sun, the Grand Egyptian Museum will host Gala de Danza on Thursday, November 5, bringing together dance, music, and art in a special performance featuring international talent. The museum will also host the UTH Festival on Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21, under the theme Work in Progress. This two-day festival will bring together young people, creators, and professionals for talks, workshops, and interactive experiences.
The Grand Egyptian Museum is the world's largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization, conceived to showcase the depth of ancient Egyptian history and alleviate congestion at the century-old Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Located approximately two kilometers from the Giza Pyramids, its official opening and inauguration ceremony was on November 1, 2025, with doors opening fully to the general public on November 4, 2025.
The museum's vast collection, which includes over 100,000 artifacts, features the entire treasure trove of King Tutankhamun, more than 5,000 items, on display together for the first time. This extensive collection provides a unique opportunity for visitors to explore and learn about ancient Egyptian history and culture. The museum's new ticket prices will support its ongoing efforts to provide an exceptional visitor experience.
