The Chiefs, Queenmothers, elders, and people of Gomoa Wassa and the Gomoa Assin Traditional Area are set to celebrate a major traditional and community development milestone on October 17, 2026. The grand coronation and outdooring ceremony for eight chiefs and their respective queenmothers will be held under the theme “Unity, Peace and Development – Together We Develop Gomoa Wassah.” This event is expected to bring together traditional rulers, government officials, political leaders, residents, and citizens from across the region and beyond.
The ceremony will feature the traditional carrying in of palanquins, followed by the coronation and official outdooring of the eight chiefs and their queenmothers. The event will highlight the strong connection between traditional leadership and community development, with the inauguration of two newly constructed palaces and an ultramodern community centre. The ceremony will attract prominent traditional rulers, including Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VII, President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, and Osagyefo Kwame Akonu, Vice President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs. Other dignitaries include Obirifo Ahunu Ahor Ankobea II, President of Gomoa Assin Traditional Area, and Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Omanhene of Abeamze Traditional Area.
Government and political leaders expected at the ceremony include Dr. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff, and Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, Central Regional Minister. Other attendees include Eric Opoku, Member of Parliament and Minister for Agriculture, and Richard Gyan Mensah, MP and Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition.
