Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has donated 39 vehicles to various religious groups in the state, including Jama'atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and different Islamic and Christian sects. The donation aims to facilitate their advocacy for peaceful coexistence and free and fair elections in the state and the country. The governor was represented by the Director General of Interfaith, Malam Tahir Umar Tahir, at the event.
According to Malam Tahir, the governor made the donation to promote peace and stability in the state, especially with the upcoming elections. He noted that some politicians who foresee defeat are planning to disrupt public peace before, during, or after the elections. The governor's gesture is an effort to prevent such disruptions and ensure a peaceful electoral process.
The donation includes Hummer buses to be given to each of the beneficiary groups, including the Kaduna State chapters of JNI and CAN. The governor also promised to extend the largesse to the First Aid Groups of other Islamic sects and the Boys Brigade of the Christian faith. Additionally, other Islamic sects and blocks within CAN will receive vehicles to aid their religious activities.
Malam Tahir recalled that the First Aid Group of Fityanul Islam had earlier requested six buses to enhance its activities of peace building during its national seminar and award ceremony in August. The governor had promised to provide four buses to the group, with two buses to be given to the national body and Kaduna State chapter each.
The Kaduna State Director General of Interfaith promised that other Christian denominations and Islamic sects that have not benefited from this round of donations will be considered subsequently. He noted that Governor Uba Sani has been carrying the various sects and different blocks of the two dominant religions in Kaduna State along since he assumed office over three years ago.
Malam Tahir reminded that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) enjoined Muslims to reciprocate kind gestures and pray for their benefactors if they cannot return the favors done unto them. In Christianity, believers are commanded to pray for their leaders. He pleaded with the religious groups to pray for the governor's re-election, promising that he will surpass the good things he is doing in his second term.
Representatives of Kaduna State chapters of JNI and CAN thanked the governor for the donations and promised to pray for the continued peace and development across the state. The donation is seen as a significant effort by the governor to promote interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence in the state.
