The Ghanaian government has announced plans to develop the Banda District in the Bono Region into a major tourism destination hub within the next five years. Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Ahmed Ibrahim, made this disclosure during an inspection of ongoing physical infrastructure projects in the district. He stated that the government's efforts aim to harness the district's rich tourism attraction sites, including the Hippo Sanctuary, Bui National Park, and Bui Hydro Lake.

Minister Ibrahim, also the Member of Parliament for Banda Constituency, emphasized that the district is endowed with several tourist attraction sites, as well as interesting archaeological sites and caves and mountains. He noted that the government is working tirelessly to develop the required physical and artificial tourist facilities to support the growth of the tourism industry in the area. This initiative is part of his "Accounting to the people" tour of the district.

The Minister inspected works on a modern community social centre and artificial pitch projects, which are about 90 percent complete. He expressed optimism that the district's tourism potential will be fully realized in the next few years. Additionally, he highlighted the district's significant opportunities for renewable energy development, citing a floating solar project at the Bui Generating Station as an example.

Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, expressed excitement about the number of physical infrastructure projects being undertaken in the district. He noted that the area has witnessed improvements in infrastructure development, including police stations, classroom blocks, teachers' accommodation, health centres, nurses' quarters, and water and sanitation facilities.
