The Goethe-Institut Namibia is set to present 'Echoes of the Future', a unique multi-sensory audiovisual experience that brings together artists from Namibia and Germany. The 'Echoes of the Future' project was developed through the Creative Lab 2026, an initiative that combines various art forms such as sound, visual art, movement, storytelling, and audience participation. The project involved three weeks of collaboration and experimentation among creatives from different disciplines, including music, poetry, visual art, and performance.
A diverse group of artists participated in the project, including storyteller Cassidy Karon, Banger Drums, producers Spiiriit and Devitchi, poet Q˚es, visual artist lvminvs, and Berlin-based DJ Nika Herero. Their collective effort resulted in an innovative and interactive experience that invites the audience to engage with stories, places, and people through play, experimentation, and curiosity.
According to Michelle Namases, the project coordinator, the Creative Lab initiative provides creatives with the space to experiment without the pressure of producing a predetermined outcome. This environment allows artists to collaborate, take creative risks freely, and view failure as part of the discovery process.
The Creative Lab encourages participants to work beyond their individual disciplines, resulting in new collaborations and approaches developed through dialogue and experimentation.
