Lance Corporal Pabby Saraphina, a Ghanaian police officer, has died after a short illness. According to reports, Saraphina had recently been transferred to Kasoa before she fell ill and passed away. The circumstances surrounding her death have not yet been disclosed. Saraphina gained public attention in September 2024 when she attempted to set a Guinness World Record for the longest painting marathon.

Saraphina's 120-hour painting marathon took place in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, from September 20 to September 25, 2024. During the 5-day period, she produced 105 paintings inspired by nature and Ghanaian culture, exceeding the 4-day duration of the record she sought to break. Her paintings showcased her artistic talent, which she aimed to use to promote female artists in Ghana and help them gain international recognition.

In an interview with Starr News Eastern Regional Correspondent Kojo Ansah, Saraphina shared her ambitions and motivations. She mentioned that she had been drawing for many years and wanted to bring out her art and show it to the world. Saraphina hoped to expand opportunities for her work and establish an art gallery where she could exhibit her creations.

Saraphina also faced challenges as a woman pursuing art, revealing that some people questioned her abilities because they regarded artwork as a profession for men. Despite this, she persevered and completed her 120-hour painting challenge. The challenge received support from senior police officers, including Eastern Regional Police Commander DCOP Twumasi Ankrah, who visited her alongside other officers to encourage her during the exercise.

Beyond her record attempt, Saraphina was recognised for her pencil drawings and was awaiting the outcome of an 8-hour private drawing marathon she had undertaken months earlier. Her artistic talent and determination earned her recognition, and her legacy will live on through her artwork.

The policewoman's death has been met with sadness, and her colleagues and well-wishers have been paying their respects. Saraphina's story serves as an inspiration to many, particularly women who aspire to pursue careers in art. Her contributions to the art world will not be forgotten.

The Guinness World Records has not yet officially commented on Saraphina's record attempt. However, her achievement and determination have already made a lasting impact on the art community in Ghana and beyond. Her story highlights the importance of pursuing one's passions and pushing beyond boundaries.
