The 10th Triennial World Assemblies of God (AoG) Congress is set to take place in Accra from October 14 to 16. According to Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, the event will promote spiritual revival and attract tourists, investors, and other economic opportunities to the country. This is the first time the congress will be held in Ghana and Africa in the 115-year history of the Assemblies of God Fellowship.
Rev. Wengam stated that the congress will provide a platform for massive prayers for the world and Ghana, particularly in response to global military brutality and social calamity, as well as the consequences of sin confronting the country. The event's theme, "Commissioned: One Mandate, Every Nation," aims to intensify evangelistic efforts among Assemblies of God churches, pastors, and members worldwide. The goal is to win more souls and plant at least one million churches by 2033.
The congress is expected to have a significant economic impact on Ghana, with thousands of tourists and investors arriving in the country. This influx is anticipated to boost the hospitality industry and have a positive impact on the national economy. Local businesses, transport operators, food sellers, and petty traders are also expected to benefit from the event. Over 10,000 participants are expected to attend the morning sessions at the Black Star Square.
To accommodate the large number of participants, temporary infrastructure will be constructed at the Black Star Square, as no existing facility in Ghana can accommodate the anticipated number. The morning sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by evening revival rallies at the Accra Sports Stadium, which will be open to all denominations and free of charge.
High-level dignitaries, including global Assemblies of God leaders, ministers, and delegates from across continents, are expected to attend the congress. Rev. Dominic Yeo, Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship and General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Singapore, will be among the attendees. President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady, Lordina, will also grace the opening ceremony, alongside 18 Ghanaian Ministers of State and other high-profile personalities.
The Assemblies of God, Ghana, is collaborating with the media to ensure extensive coverage of the congress and project Ghana positively to the world. Rev. Wengam appealed to media practitioners to identify with the historic event and help make it an outstanding success. The congress is expected to receive extensive media coverage, highlighting Ghana's hospitality and spiritual significance.
The event is a significant opportunity for Ghana to showcase its capabilities and promote spiritual revival. With the support of the government and the media, the congress is expected to be a successful and memorable experience for all participants. The Assemblies of God, Ghana, is working hard to ensure that the event is well-organized and impactful.
