The National Service Authority (NSA) in Ghana has announced the release of postings for 70,072 eligible National Service Personnel for the 2026/2027 service year. This development follows the completion of validation and registration processes for prospective personnel. The NSA released the first batch of postings on September 30, 2026.
The registration period for the 2026/2027 national service year runs from October 1 to October 15, 2026. Personnel are expected to report to their assigned departments, institutions, and agencies from October 5, 2026. The NSA has provided guidelines for checking postings, completing validation, and reporting to assigned organizations.
To check their postings, personnel can visit the official National Service Authority website and access the NSS Portal. After logging into the portal, they can check their posting details and access their Appointment/Posting Letter. It is essential to ensure that the details on the letter are correct before proceeding to the next stage.
The validation process involves several steps, including printing the Appointment/Posting Letter, getting it endorsed by the appropriate official or supervisor at the place of posting, booking a validation appointment, attending the validation appointment, and distributing validated documents. Personnel must complete these steps to officially begin their national service.
The NSA has highlighted important dates for the 2026/2027 NSS, including October 1, 2026, for the start of registration, October 5, 2026, for personnel to report to their places of posting, and October 15, 2026, for the closure of registration. Private and international applicants who are still completing their registration are urged to do so within the stipulated period.
A total of 149,907 prospective National Service Personnel were submitted through the registration process, with 95,689 successfully verified, 95,197 completing registration, and 70,072 posted in the first batch. The NSA has also reminded personnel of the importance of completing monthly evaluation forms, which form part of the process for allowance payment.
The National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), sets out who is required to undertake national service, emphasizing that a person is qualified if they are a Ghanaian citizen and have completed a course of study at a tertiary education institution. Failure to complete national service has consequences, including prohibition from employment and administrative penalties for employers who contravene the provision.
