The National Service Authority (NSA) of Ghana has announced the release of the first batch of postings for 70,072 eligible national service personnel for the 2026/2027 service year. This development follows the completion of the required validation and registration processes for prospective personnel. According to the NSA, eligible applicants can visit its official website to check their postings and complete regional validation.
A total of 149,907 prospective personnel were submitted through the registration process, with 95,689 successfully verified and 95,197 completing registration. After undergoing validation and deployment procedures, 70,072 applicants were included in the first batch of postings. The NSA has directed all posted personnel to report to their respective departments, institutions, and agencies from October 5 to begin their national service.
Registration for the 2026/2027 service year is scheduled to begin on October 1 and close on October 15, 2026. The NSA has also announced that registration remains open for private and international applicants, urging them to complete the process within the stipulated period to enable their applications to be considered. This move aims to ensure that all eligible applicants are given the opportunity to participate in the national service.
The NSA has further announced that monthly evaluation forms for personnel serving in subvented institutions will be available on its portal from the 15th to the 20th of each month. This will facilitate the completion of evaluations required for allowance payments. However, for October 2026, the forms will be available from October 15 to October 25. This measure is expected to streamline the evaluation process and ensure timely payments.
National service is a statutory requirement under Section 29(1) of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), for Ghanaian citizens who have completed a course of study at a tertiary education institution. Section 40 of the Act places restrictions on employing qualified individuals who have not completed national service, unless they are exempted under the law. Employers who contravene the relevant provisions risk an administrative penalty of 5,000 penalty units.
The legislation empowers the Authority to direct individuals who obtain employment without undertaking the required service to complete it. The NSA encourages prospective personnel to comply with the registration procedures and deadlines to ensure a smooth deployment and commencement of their service. This will enable them to fulfill their statutory obligation and avoid any potential penalties.
The release of the first batch of postings marks a significant milestone in the national service process. The NSA's efforts to streamline the registration and deployment process aim to ensure that all eligible applicants are given the opportunity to participate in the national service. With the deadline for registration looming, prospective personnel are urged to complete the process within the stipulated period.
