The National Service Authority (NSA) in Ghana has released the first batch of postings for 70,072 eligible National Service Personnel for the 2026/2027 service year. This announcement was made on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after the completion of validation and registration processes for prospective personnel. Eligible personnel are required to visit the NSA's website to check their respective places of posting and complete the required regional validation.

A total of 149,907 prospective National Service Personnel were submitted through the registration process. Out of this number, 95,689 were successfully verified, while 95,197 completed their registration. Following the applicable validation and deployment processes, 70,072 personnel have been posted in the first batch for the 2026/2027 service year. The registration for the 2026/2027 national service year began on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and ended on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Personnel are expected to report to their respective departments, institutions, and agencies from Monday, October 5, 2026, to commence their service. The NSA has directed eligible personnel to visit its website and access the portal to check their respective places of posting and complete the required regional validation. This process is crucial for the smooth commencement of their national service.

The NSA also announced that monthly evaluation forms for personnel and user agencies in the subvented category will be available on its portal from the 15th to the 20th of every month for completion and submission. However, for October 2026, the evaluation period will run from October 15 to October 25. This move aims to ensure that personnel and agencies are held accountable for their performance.

Under Section 29(1) of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), a Ghanaian citizen who has completed a course of study at a tertiary education institution is qualified to undertake national service. The NSA drew attention to the legal consequences for qualified persons who fail to undertake the mandatory service. Employers are prohibited from employing a person who is qualified to undertake national service but has not done so, unless that person is exempted under the law.

The law further requires employers to ascertain whether prospective employees are required to undertake national service and whether they have completed it or obtained an exemption certificate. An employer who contravenes the provision is liable to an administrative penalty of 5,000 penalty units. Additionally, the Registrar of Companies shall not register the company, partnership, or business name of a person who is qualified to undertake national service but has not completed it, unless the person is exempted.

The NSA urged all prospective personnel to comply with the registration, validation, and reporting procedures within the stipulated timelines to facilitate their deployment and commencement of service. The Authority emphasized the importance of adhering to these procedures to avoid any complications or delays in the national service process. By doing so, personnel can ensure a smooth transition into their national service.
