The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has taken a proactive approach to promoting fire safety awareness among pupils in the Ga North Municipality. As part of this effort, the GNFS organised an inter-schools fire safety quiz competition. This initiative aims to equip pupils with essential fire safety knowledge while encouraging fire prevention and preparedness from an early age. The competition is a collaborative effort between the Fire Service and schools in the municipality.

The 2026 Inter-Schools Fire Safety Quiz Competition was organised by the Public Relations Team of the Amamorley Fire Station, led by ADO I Bismark Afful. The competition involved ten basic schools, comprising five public and five private schools, which participated in the preliminary stage. The preliminary stage was held from September 28 to 30, 2026. This stage was crucial in determining which schools would proceed to the next level of the competition.

California Stars School Complex emerged with the highest score in the preliminary stage, earning an automatic qualification to the grand finale. This achievement is a testament to the school's emphasis on fire safety education. Alongside California Stars School Complex, BAMS International School and Ayawaso M/A Cluster School also secured their places in the final after winning their respective semi-final contests.

The GNFS's initiative has not only promoted fire safety awareness but also strengthened collaboration between the Fire Service and schools in the municipality. The competition has provided pupils with practical knowledge on safety and emergency response. By integrating fire safety education into their curriculum, the GNFS aims to create a safer environment for pupils.

The grand finale of the competition will feature California Stars School Complex, BAMS International School, and Ayawaso M/A Cluster School competing for honours. Although the date and venue of the grand finale have not been announced, the excitement is building among the participating schools. The competition has been well-received by the schools and pupils, who see it as an opportunity to learn and showcase their knowledge.

The GNFS's effort to promote fire safety awareness among pupils is part of a broader strategy to integrate fire safety education into the basic school curriculum. This move is expected to have a lasting impact on fire prevention and safety in Ghana. By targeting pupils at a young age, the GNFS aims to create a culture of fire safety that will benefit the community in the long run.

The inter-schools fire safety quiz competition is a significant step towards achieving the GNFS's goal of promoting fire safety awareness in Ghana. The competition has not only raised awareness about fire safety but also encouraged pupils to take an active role in preventing fires and responding to emergencies.
