Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has stated that President Tinubu trusts him and was confident that he would not be involved in the allegations levelled against him regarding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Gbajabiamila made this statement at the 2026 Gbajabiamila Mega Empowerment Programme held at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The programme aimed to empower about 5,000 beneficiaries from communities in Surulere, with items including cash support, vehicles, electric tricycles, buses, security patrol vehicles, and an ambulance. Gbajabiamila addressed the controversy and accusations surrounding him, stating that investigations into the allegations were now in the public domain and that due process prevailed despite pressure from some quarters.
Gbajabiamila emphasized that he remained committed to his responsibilities in the Presidency despite the attacks on him. He warned those behind the attacks that no amount of money, blackmail, or lies would distract him from his work and the job Mr. President has given him to do. He also cautioned anyone using his name to defame people or misrepresent him that the law would catch up with them.
The Chief of Staff spoke on his relationship with Tinubu, stating that his loyalty to the President had remained unchanged despite political decisions which he might not always agree with. Gbajabiamila noted that in politics, loyalty is the currency spent the most and that he had been with Mr. President for many years, did not question his leadership, and never betrayed his trust in him.
Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos State Deputy Governor and Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), joined Gbajabiamila at the event. Hamzat called on Lagosians, particularly residents of Surulere Federal Constituency, to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and vote for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections in the State.
Hamzat described the empowerment programme as part of efforts by political leaders and elected representatives to bring government closer to the people. He emphasized that the party’s strength lies in its ability to connect directly with citizens and respond to their needs through various initiatives and empowerment programmes.
Gbajabiamila disclosed that about 5000 residents benefited from the 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment, with 4018 beneficiaries receiving cash gifts of N250,000 each and another 348 beneficiaries receiving N500,000 each as cash support. The programme also provided 61 electric vehicles, 50 electric tricycles, 60 mini-buses, 100 laptops, four 18-seater Toyota Hiace buses, two security patrol vehicles, and a medical ambulance.
