Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party, has revealed that he refined his weaponry and basic combat skills during his recent stay in Texas, USA. As part of his extended US tour, Gachagua said he utilised his time in Texas to practise skills he acquired while serving in the security sector earlier in life. This development has garnered attention amid concerns over security in Kenya. Gachagua's US tour involves engagements with the diaspora, political meetings, and discussions on investment opportunities in Kenya.

Gachagua disclosed that he also had his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, undergo basic self-defence training during the trip. He attributed this decision to the challenging times Kenya is facing, citing the prevalence of "goonism" as a way of life. As a responsible spouse, Gachagua felt it was his duty to ensure his wife is equipped with self-defence skills. This move demonstrates his concern for his family's safety and security. The training was part of his efforts to prepare himself and his family for any eventuality.

The self-defence training was not limited to Gachagua and his wife, as Embakasi North MP James Gakuya and Embakasi Central MP Benjamin Gathiru Mejjadonk also participated in the practice. Gachagua stated that the joint practice made his team stronger and better prepared to face any challenges in the difficult times ahead. The participation of other leaders highlights the significance of the issue and their collective commitment to addressing security concerns.

Gachagua and his wife concluded their engagements in Texas and are set to travel to Boston, Massachusetts, where he will continue meeting with Kenyans living in the United States. The Boston leg of his tour is scheduled to run from October 1 to October 9 and is expected to be the final major stop on his published itinerary. During his US tour, Gachagua has been engaging with Kenyan diaspora groups, advancing his political and economic message ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The Texas leg of Gachagua's tour included meetings with investors who expressed strong interest in investing in Kenya. This development could potentially boost Kenya's economy and create new opportunities for growth. Gachagua has been in Dallas since September 25, and his US tour is focused on promoting Kenya's economic prospects and strengthening ties with the diaspora community.

As Gachagua continues his US tour, he has also been discussing efforts to build a united opposition political front ahead of the 2027 General Election. This move could have significant implications for Kenya's political landscape. Gachagua's engagements in the US are aimed at promoting his political and economic agenda, both domestically and internationally.

Before travelling to Boston, Gachagua and his wife took part in a horseback ride, reflecting on the lighter side of his US tour. Gachagua concluded his remarks by stating, "But all in all, The Future is Green," hinting at his party's prospects and vision for Kenya's future. The outcome of his US tour and its impact on Kenya's politics and economy remain to be seen.
