The Democratic Party of Gabon (PDG) is holding a provincial council in Franceville, the capital of the Haut-Ogooué province, to discuss internal issues and contributions to the upcoming 13th ordinary congress. The council, which started on Friday, brings together party officials, cadres, and militants to reflect on the party's relaunch and restructuring. The congress is scheduled to take place from November 27 to 29 in Libreville.

The provincial council is examining six major themes, including the party's political life, legal and statutory instruments, financing and patrimony, specialized bodies, communication and political marketing, and militant training. The discussions aim to strengthen internal cohesion and define the party's future orientations. Vice-President Jeannot Kalima emphasized the importance of the provincial council, encouraging participants to prioritize the party's interest and make responsible and constructive proposals.

The council's conclusions will be transmitted to the strategic and operational coordinations in charge of preparing the 13th ordinary congress. President of the congress, Osward Séverin Mayounou, stressed that the notions of reconciliation, awakening, and resurgence should not be limited to a simple slogan, but rather imply a collective questioning, a change of behavior, and frank dialogue among militants.

The provincial secretary of the party, Albert Ngouamizokou, welcomed the participation in the council, which he said reflects the militants' attachment to the PDG's ideals and their willingness to contribute to the party's redynamization and the concretization of its Vision 2030. The council's works will conclude on Sunday with the adoption of a general report, which will constitute the Haut-Ogooué's contribution to the national congress in Libreville.

The 13th ordinary congress is placed under the theme "Congress of Reconciliation, Awakening, and Resurgence, for a United and Solidary PDG". The party's militants and officials are gathered to discuss and contribute to the party's future, with a focus on its internal life, its relations with its members, and its positioning in the current political context.

According to the Gabon Press Agency, the provincial council is a framework for dialogue, consultation, and proposals aimed at strengthening internal cohesion and defining the party's future orientations. The discussions are taking place in a context where the PDG is facing challenges in the current political landscape.

The Haut-Ogooué province is playing an important role in the PDG's preparations for the 13th ordinary congress, with the provincial council's conclusions expected to contribute to the party's national congress. The party's ability to relaunch and restructure itself will be crucial in the lead-up to the congress and beyond.
