The Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG) has installed seven new federations in the Ogooué-Maritime province, four in the Port-Gentil commune and three in the Bendjé department. This move aims to strengthen the party's organization and mobilization of its militant base. The installation ceremony, initiated by PDG Secretary General Angélique Ngoma, is part of the party's efforts to readjust its federal structures.
The new federations were established through the fusion of existing structures in each of Port-Gentil's four arrondissements. The responsible officials were designated by consensus, with Jean-Félix Agaya, Vivien Chibota, Éloi Akendengué, and Bertrand Mfoumbi appointed as secretaries of the first, second, third, and fourth arrondissements, respectively. In the Bendjé department, the operation involved officially installing the responsible officials and members of their bureaus.
According to Ferdinand Ndo Ella, the PDG's provincial secretary in Ogooué-Maritime, the designations were made without any incidents or frustrations, thanks to the consensus reached after consultations. He praised the maturity of the PDG militants, highlighting the smooth process. Ndo Ella announced that the PDG plans to continue its deployment on the ground with the installation of sections and committees attached to the federations starting October 15.
Jean-Richard Silong, a member of the PDG's political bureau in Port-Gentil, urged the new officials to assume their responsibilities fully and demonstrate dynamism in animating the party's structures. He encouraged them to remain loyal to the party and work towards consolidating the federations resulting from the merger of several structures, believing that this reorganization constitutes an additional strength for the party on the ground.
The PDG's organization is based on three levels: the committee, composed of 20 militants; the section, which groups three committees, totaling 60 militants; and the federation, made up of at least three sections, representing a theoretical membership of 180 militants. This structure allows the party to maintain a strong presence at the grassroots level.
The installation of the new federations is part of the PDG's efforts to revitalize its base and strengthen its position in the Ogooué-Maritime province. By reinforcing its organizational structures, the party aims to improve its mobilization and participation in local and national politics. The PDG's initiatives are being closely watched by political observers and stakeholders in Gabon.
The successful installation of the seven federations demonstrates the PDG's commitment to reorganizing and reinvigorating its structures in Ogooué-Maritime. With the new federations in place, the party is expected to enhance its activities and engagement with its members, ultimately contributing to the country's political landscape.
