The Nimba County Branch of the Federation of Road Transport Union of Liberia (FRTUL) has honored Nimba County Superintendent Kou Meapeah Gono and declared her the "Chief Driver" for Nimba County. The honor was bestowed on her during a ceremony held in Bahn City to dedicate the Federation of Road Transport Union's newly constructed terminal in the city. The event brought together transport union officials, drivers, local government representatives, and residents of Bahn City.

According to FRTUL Nimba County President Martin Beito, the union's decision to honor Superintendent Gono was based on the strong working relationship between her administration and the union. Beito said Superintendent Gono has demonstrated strong and inclusive leadership across Nimba County's 19 administrative districts. He noted that her administration has supported the Federation of Road Transport Union and its members, helping to improve the environment in which drivers and transport operators work.

The FRTUL Nimba County Branch is one of the oldest transport unions in the county, and under President Beito's leadership, the union has expanded its operations to six major cities in Nimba County. The union has developed modern terminal facilities across the county, providing designated spaces for drivers, passengers, and transport businesses. The newly dedicated Bahn City Terminal is part of that expansion and is expected to improve order, safety, and coordination within the local transport sector.

Former Union Leader and current Mayor of Ganta City, Samuel Saye Hardt, also attended the ceremony and praised Superintendent Gono for her leadership and continued support for initiatives that benefit ordinary citizens, including drivers and other transport workers. Hardt described the recognition as well-deserved and thanked the union for honoring Superintendent Gono.

In response, Superintendent Gono expressed appreciation to the Federation of Road Transport Union for the honor bestowed on her. She pledged her continued support for the union's activities in Nimba County and announced plans to engage the Nimba County Nine-Man Council regarding the possible use of the County Social Development Fund to support union activities.

Superintendent Gono described drivers as essential partners in development, noting that their work supports trade, education, healthcare, agriculture, and family life throughout Nimba County. She reaffirmed her administration's commitment to working with the Federation of Road Transport Union to strengthen transport services in Nimba County and encouraged union members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to safe driving practices.

The ceremony ended with applause from union members and residents, as Superintendent Gono was formally recognized as the "Chief Driver" for Nimba County. The recognition is seen as a testament to Superintendent Gono's dedication to the people of Nimba County, including members of the transport union.
