The Pistis Foundation, the social intervention arm of The Elevation Church, has launched a five-day free medical and surgical outreach in Ibadan, Oyo State. The 2026 UBOMI healthcare outreach began on Monday, September 21, at the Pistis Hub in Ibadan. This program aims to provide free healthcare services to residents who cannot afford them. The outreach is a collaboration between Pistis Foundation, The Elevation Church, Pro-Health International, and Zenithcare Hospital.
The Executive Director of Pistis Foundation, Leonard F. Thomas, stated that the outreach was brought to Ibadan to help people who cannot afford good healthcare. He emphasized that the foundation believes everyone should have access to healthcare, and many people cannot afford the cost of treatment. Thomas expressed satisfaction with the number of people who had turned up in Ibadan and hoped to reach over 5,000 people before the Lagos edition next month.
The Founder and Executive Director of Pro-Health International, Dr Iko Ibanga, revealed that his organisation had been working with UBOMI for the past six years. He stated that the programme had provided surgeries for conditions such as hernia, eye problems, fibroid, and dental problems. Ibanga added that the programme had recorded a 99 per cent success rate in surgeries carried out in the last six years.
The Resident Pastor of The Elevation Church, Ibadan, Pastor Oluwaseun Afolayan, emphasized that the programme was open to people from all religions. He stated that the outreach was not based on religion or politics and that everyone could receive treatment for free. This inclusive approach aims to ensure that everyone in need can access healthcare services.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, praised the foundation for bringing the programme to Ibadan. She also called on individuals and organisations to support efforts to improve healthcare in the state. The commissioner's endorsement highlights the importance of collaborations in enhancing healthcare services.
According to Pistis Foundation, UBOMI has provided 48,706 medical interventions since 2019. The programme offers free medical consultations, tests, drugs, dental care, eye care, surgeries, and health education. These services are designed to cater to various healthcare needs, ensuring comprehensive care for the beneficiaries.
The 2026 outreach is being organised with The Elevation Church, Pro-Health International, and Zenithcare Hospital, Oyo State.
