Ford has launched the Tourneo Custom Kombi in South Africa, replacing the Tourneo Trend LWB. The eight-seat passenger vehicle is priced at R996 000 and offers a newer-generation people carrier for families, businesses, shuttle operators, and fleet buyers. The announcement was made by Ford South Africa Manufacturing (Pty) Limited in Pretoria on 29 September 2026.
The Tourneo Custom Kombi is powered by a 2.0-litre SiT diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 100 kW of maximum power and 360 Nm of torque. According to Ford, the automatic transmission is suitable for both urban driving and longer journeys.
The cabin of the Tourneo Custom Kombi has a fixed eight-seater layout, providing ample space for passengers and their belongings. The driver and front passenger get armrests, and the seats are trimmed in durable cloth fabric intended for regular use. The vehicle also features Daytime Running Lights and 16-inch alloy wheels as an optional feature.
The dashboard of the Tourneo Custom Kombi features a 13-inch central touchscreen for key vehicle functions and connectivity, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for compatible smartphones. The driver has an 8-inch digital instrument display, and FordPass connectivity gives access to connected vehicle features through the FordPass app.
The Tourneo Custom Kombi also features a Driver Monitoring System, which uses an infrared camera to track the driver’s head and eye movements for signs of distraction. If the system detects any signs of distraction, it shows an instrument-panel warning. Ryan Searle, Director of Sales Operations at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (Manufacturing) (Pty) Ltd, stated that the Kombi builds on the practical strengths of the outgoing Trend.
In terms of pricing and warranty, the Tourneo Custom Kombi SWB 8AT is priced at R996 000, including VAT. The price includes a six-year/90 000km Ford Optional Service Plan, a four-year/120 000km Ford warranty, four-year/unlimited distance Roadside Assistance, and a five-year/unlimited distance corrosion warranty.
Buyers of the Tourneo Custom Kombi can upgrade to Ford Protect Service or Maintenance Plans of up to eight years or 165 000km, extend the warranty to up to seven years or 200 000km, and extend Roadside Assistance by an additional one or two years. The recommended service interval for the vehicle is 15 000km or annually, whichever occurs first.
