Another victim, Mrs. Victoria Chikezie, described the situation as sad and helpless. The Secretary of Amaegbu community, Prince Ette, reported that the disaster had destroyed more than 500 houses across Akaeze, describing the situation as devastating. In response to the disaster, the 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ebonyi State, Ifeanyi Odii, has donated N5 million to the victims to cushion the effects of the disaster. Odii visited the affected community through a delegation led by the party's state chairman, Chukwuma Igwe, and promised to draw the attention of relevant agencies to their plight.
The donation by Ifeanyi Odii is a demonstration of solidarity with the affected families. The PDP candidate for Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo Federal Constituency, Felix Igboke, described the disaster as unfortunate but avoidable, promising that improved drainage and environmental solutions would be pursued if his party came to power.
