The 36th Regional Theatre Festival was held in Medinine on October 25, under the supervision of the Regional Cultural Affairs Delegation. The event took place at the cultural center, youth centers, and university institutions. The festival's theme was "Theatre brings us together, creativity entertains us." Several theatrical works were selected to represent Medinine in the regional festival in Gabes.
The selected plays are: "صندوق الزمن" (The Time Box) by the theatre club at the Ajim Jerba cultural center, competing in the children's theatre category; "الحكيم الصغير" (The Little Sage) by the theatre club at the Medinine cultural center, competing in the puppet theatre category; "وريد العدم" (The Vein of Nothingness) by the theatre club at the Sidi Makhlouf cultural center, competing in the monologue category.
Additionally, "فيد باك" (Feedback) by the theatre club at the Mai Jerba Medoun youth center, competing in the street theatre category; and "مهموتة" (Mahmouta) by the theatre club at the Ben Qardan cultural center, competing in the collective works category for youth and adults. The festival awarded several individual prizes in various competitions, including children's theatre, puppet theatre, street theatre, and collective works.
The Regional Cultural Affairs Delegate, Tarek El Mahdawi, stated that the festival provided an opportunity to discover young talents and support theatrical creativity in Medinine. He added that the event aimed to promote the practice of theatre, encourage creative energies, and highlight the role of cultural, youth, and university institutions in developing the performing arts.
El Mahdawi emphasized that the festival was a renewed opportunity to activate the theatrical movement in Medinine and make theatre a tool for expression, education, and prevention. The selected plays will represent Medinine at the regional theatre festival in Gabes on October 28.
The festival's jury awarded several prizes, including the prize for the best performance, best acting, and best use of the Arabic language. The event was attended by a large audience, and the participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers and supporters.
