First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will consolidate his administration's economic reforms and deliver greater prosperity, a stronger economy, and improved security if re-elected for a second term in 2027. She made this statement at the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network Grand Rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The event drew thousands of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters from the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the First Lady, the country is already witnessing the positive effects of President Tinubu's tough economic decisions, particularly in exchange rate stability, renewed investor confidence, and infrastructure development. She described her husband as a courageous and dependable leader whose commitment to national unity, security, and economic transformation has remained unwavering despite the challenges confronting the country.
The First Lady's statement was contained in a speech issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi. She noted that the administration's reform policies are beginning to restore confidence in Nigeria's economy, with foreign exchange rates decreasing and investors returning to the country. Additionally, she highlighted the administration's interventions in food security, nutrition, education, and social protection, aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.
One of the key initiatives mentioned by the First Lady was a recently concluded food bank programme targeting pregnant women, nursing mothers, and malnourished children. The programme aimed to address nutritional deficiencies and improve maternal and child health. She also noted that educational support for young Nigerians is another area receiving attention, with students benefiting from increased funding interventions.
The First Lady urged APC supporters and political leaders across the North-Central geopolitical zone to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections. She stressed that Nigerians need to understand the importance of sustaining the administration's reform agenda. According to her, President Tinubu has demonstrated the political courage required to confront longstanding national challenges and should be trusted with another mandate.
The rally, which attracted a large turnout of APC members and supporters, was attended by prominent party leaders, including the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and governors from the geopolitical zone. Other speakers at the event expressed confidence in President Tinubu's leadership and endorsed his re-election alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The speakers argued that another mandate for the APC administration would provide an opportunity to consolidate ongoing reforms and accelerate development. They urged party members to sustain grassroots engagement and mobilisation, expressing confidence that the North-Central region would play a significant role in securing victory for the President and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
