In a significant development for Nigerian investors, Bitget Wallet has integrated Reality, a regulated tokenised asset issuance protocol. This integration provides users with access to over 1,700 tokenised US stocks and exchange-traded funds directly from within the wallet. The move aims to simplify the process of trading US shares for Nigerian users.
The integration allows users to trade shares of prominent companies such as Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, and Amazon without the need to open a foreign brokerage account. Additionally, users do not have to convert funds off an exchange or transfer custody of their assets to another party. This development is expected to enhance the trading experience for Nigerian investors.
The tokenised assets, known as rTokens, are backed one-to-one by the underlying US shares held at Alpaca Securities. Alpaca Securities is a FINRA-registered, SIPC-member broker-dealer. The reserves are independently attested daily by a third-party CPA firm, ensuring the authenticity and reliability of the tokenised assets.
During US market hours, orders are routed to Nasdaq and NYSE liquidity. This means that the prices users see reflect the underlying market, providing a more accurate and transparent trading experience. Furthermore, over 90 of the highest-volume rTokens continue trading outside market hours, including weekends.
The integration is currently live on the Arbitrum and Morph networks. This development enables users to hold tokenised US shares alongside their existing crypto and stablecoin holdings without setting up a separate brokerage platform. Users can manage their US shares and crypto holdings within the same wallet.
According to Alvin Kan, COO of Bitget Wallet, the integration with Reality offers a viable path to US equity exposure for users globally. The model provides real shares, real liquidity, real dividends, and users retain control of their keys throughout the process. This combination is what makes this integration meaningful.
The integration follows Bitget’s earlier introduction of tokenised equities, ETF indexes, and precious metals through Ondo Global Markets. Bitget Wallet has also onboarded Ondo and xStocks as part of its self-custodial offerings. This move is expected to further enhance the wallet’s capabilities and provide users with a more comprehensive trading experience.
