The First Green White Resource Centre (FGWRC), organisers of Nigeria's Pride Awards, has announced that Air Peace will receive the prestigious 'Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Decade Award for Excellence, Patriotism and Best Quality Service' at its fifth edition on November 10. This award is in recognition of Air Peace's exceptional corporate leadership, commitment to national development, and outstanding legacy of responsible corporate citizenship.
According to Bonaventure Phillips Melah, Founder/Facilitator of Nigeria's Pride Awards, Air Peace has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to safe, reliable, and affordable air travel, as well as quality service and operational excellence. The airline has grown into Nigeria's largest carrier and one of the largest in West and Central Africa, with a fleet of over 50 aircraft.
The Nigeria's Pride Awards Organising Committee includes notable members such as Mr. Ahaziah Suleiman, former Executive Director/Acting Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), and Hajia Medina Dauda Nadabo, Bureau Coordinator/Programmes Officer, Voice of America (VOA), Nigeria. The objective of the awards is to identify and celebrate individuals and corporate citizens who contribute positively to Nigeria's development, peace, and unity.
Air Peace's achievements that led to its selection for the award include building a formidable Nigerian aviation fleet, investing in aviation infrastructure, and creating employment opportunities. The airline has also taken the Nigerian flag to major international destinations, including London, Johannesburg, and Mumbai.
In times of national crisis, Air Peace has demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian interventions, such as providing free flights to bring Nigerians home during the 2019 xenophobic attacks in South Africa. The airline has also participated in evacuating Nigerians fleeing international emergencies, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the Sudan crisis.
The award ceremony will be part of a Strategic Town Hall with the theme, "Unlocking Nigeria's Potentials: Pathways to Sustainable Investment." Other recipients of the award include the TY Danjuma Foundation, the Nigerian Communications Commission, and several others.
