The Federal Government, through the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS), has launched a skills empowerment program targeting 200 youths in Oyo State. The program aims to equip participants with practical and marketable skills to improve their livelihood opportunities. Abiola Arogundade, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (TVEE), disclosed this in a statement. The training program will focus on graphics and artificial intelligence (AI), makeup, and fashion design.
According to Arogundade, the training program will run from September 28 to October 9. The initiative is part of the government's efforts to expand access to technical and vocational skills, tools, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for young Nigerians. The program will provide participants with complete starter kits relevant to their areas of specialization, enabling them to put their newly acquired skills to practical use.
Beneficiaries of the program will receive specific starter kits depending on their area of specialization. Participants in graphics and AI will receive laptops, while those trained in makeup will be provided with fully equipped makeup kits. Beneficiaries in fashion design will receive sewing machines and other starter kits to support them after the training.
The program is designed to bridge the gap between skills acquisition and access to the tools required for young people to establish or expand income-generating activities. Arogundade explained that the initiative underscores the Federal Government's commitment to equipping young Nigerians with practical skills, tools, and opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods.

A graduation ceremony for the trainees will be held on October 9.
