The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the completion and commissioning of 10 ultramodern diagnostic centres across 10 states. This move aims to enhance diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the country. Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, revealed this during a courtesy visit to Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed. The diagnostic centres were executed through MedSafe and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).

According to Professor Pate, the development marks the largest expansion of health infrastructure and equipment in Nigeria's history. The foundation for the Bauchi diagnostic centre was laid about two years ago and has now been completed alongside nine others located in different parts of the country. Pate described the project as a significant step in the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to revamp Nigeria's health sector.

The 10 diagnostic centres are part of a larger healthcare infrastructure project that includes three world-class cancer centres. These facilities aim to provide high-quality medical services, training, and research opportunities. The minister emphasized the collaboration between the federal government and states in achieving this milestone. The commissioning of the centres is expected to improve healthcare delivery across the country.

The Bauchi diagnostic centre, located at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, was the first to be commissioned. The minister and his team will proceed to Oyo State to commission the second centre, while eight others are already completed nationwide. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance the country's healthcare system.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, commended the administration's support for the Medsa Diagnostic Centre project from inception to completion. Oyedele noted that this project is a small part of a larger reform effort nationally. The government's investment in healthcare infrastructure is expected to have a positive impact on the country's health sector.

In addition to the diagnostic and cancer centres, six major multi-specialty hospitals are being prepared, one in each geopolitical zone. This is part of the expansion of the health sector in Nigeria, aimed at providing comprehensive medical services. The federal government's efforts to revamp the health sector have been welcomed by stakeholders.

The commissioning of the diagnostic and cancer centres marks a significant milestone in Nigeria's healthcare development. The facilities are expected to provide quality medical services, improve diagnosis and treatment, and enhance research opportunities. The government's commitment to healthcare reform is evident in its investment in infrastructure and equipment.
