The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested and paraded three suspects connected with alleged vandalism and attempted removal of NNPC Pipeline components around Dafa in Kwali Area Council of FCT. The arrest was made possible through credible intelligence by a vigilante group and officers of NSCDC Kwali Divisional Office. The suspects were paraded at the scene of the crime.
The FCT NSCDC Commandant, Dr Olusola Odumosu, expressed gratitude to members of the vigilante group for their strategic support in arresting the suspects. He called on communities along the pipeline right of ways to provide credible information that would assist in the apprehension of vandals and dismantling of criminal networks. The Commandant emphasized the importance of community support in tackling pipeline vandalism.
Dr. Odumosu stated that the command had intensified efforts to clamp down on economic saboteurs and pipeline vandals within the Federal Capital Territory. The goal is to ensure that national infrastructure is protected from vandals. The Commandant explained that the investigation identified four other suspects who are currently at large.
The FCT NSCDC Commandant stressed that the Command would work tirelessly to identify the end-buyers, the sponsors bankrolling the sabotage, and subsequently bring them to book. He noted that the suspects' reckless activities caused massive economic losses to the country and posed an immediate risk of catastrophic explosion and environmental degradation.
Dr. Odumosu called on residents and communities along the pipeline areas to assist in dismantling any network involved in vandalism. He emphasized that the NSCDC is committed to protecting national infrastructure and preventing economic sabotage. The Commandant's efforts aim to ensure the safety of the community and the environment.
Alhaji Aliyu Barau, the representative of the Chief of the Gwomoni kingdom in Dafa, Kwali Area Council, commended the personnel of NSCDC for their relentless effort at combating economic sabotage. He also called on the youths in the community to desist from acts that could tarnish the image of the Area.
