The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been slated to deliver the keynote address at the maiden induction ceremony of the Idoma Hall of Fame. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 12 noon at the Peach Vine Event Centre, Wuye, Abuja. Wike, who bears the Idoma honorary title “Okokocho K’Idoma,” will speak on the theme, “People, Politics and Power in Nigeria: The Agitation for Equity, Fairness and Justice.”

According to Chief Paul-Harris Ogbole, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Wike was chosen as the keynote speaker due to his strong and vocal position on equity and fairness in the distribution of political power in Nigeria. Ogbole noted that Wike’s advocacy for minority rights made him particularly suited to address the theme of the ceremony. Wike’s recognition as a Friend of Idoma is intended to acknowledge his relationship with the Idoma people and his contributions to the community.

The founder and Executive Director of the Idoma Hall of Fame, Engr. Agaba Ikwue, FNSE, stated that the initiative was established to document and preserve the achievements of distinguished Idoma people for future generations. Ikwue described the Hall of Fame as an institution dedicated to preserving Idoma history, celebrating excellence, and inspiring younger generations. He emphasized that the initiative is more than an award platform.

The Idoma Hall of Fame induction ceremony aims to preserve Idoma heritage and promote community engagement. Ikwue noted that the project is intended to become a lasting institution beyond its founders. The initiative also seeks to serve as a platform for youth mentorship and gender equity.

Several notable individuals are expected to be inducted at the maiden ceremony, including former Senate President Senator David Mark and TETFund Executive Secretary Arc. Sonny Echono. Other inductees include legendary musician Dr. Bongos Ikwue, music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, and Dunamis International Gospel Centre founder Dr. Paul Enenche.
