On October 9, 2026, Zoodnoma Ahmed Sakandé, Director General of Faso Mêbo, presented the agency's accomplishments and ongoing projects to the public as part of the government's exhibition for the 3rd edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation (JEPPC). With over 3,000 employees and a fleet of 2,300 vehicles and equipment, Faso Mêbo is actively involved in road infrastructure development, urban planning, and sanitation.
Established to strengthen existing efforts in infrastructure development, urban planning, and sanitation, Faso Mêbo has evolved significantly since its inception. Initially launched as an initiative under the National Bureau of Large Projects, the agency has now become a public establishment with administrative character, placed under the tutelage of the Presidency of Faso, following a change in its legal status on July 16, 2026.
Faso Mêbo's primary missions include creating and constructing roads to facilitate the circulation of people and goods, urban planning and beautification, and sanitation. The agency is currently working on nine major projects, including the rehabilitation of roads and construction of access routes to health structures. These projects aim to improve living conditions in urban centers and enhance access to essential services.
Among the showcased projects are the rehabilitation of roads leading to the 4-Août stadium in Ouagadougou, which involves 5,332 meters of roadwork. Additionally, the agency is working on access roads to the Yalgado-Ouédraogo University Hospital Center, with a 90% completion rate. The project aims to facilitate access to the hospital for patients from across the country.
Faso Mêbo is also involved in the construction of a road to the Tengandogo University Hospital Center, which is now complete. This project provides access to the cancer treatment center, among other facilities. The agency's efforts focus on improving urban infrastructure and enhancing access to healthcare and other essential services.
Another significant project is the experimental bitumen road in Barsalogho, covering approximately 45 kilometers. This project demonstrates Faso Mêbo's commitment to expanding and improving Burkina Faso's road network. The agency's work on these projects reflects its broader goals of promoting national development and improving the quality of life for citizens.
The presentation also highlighted Faso Mêbo's institutional evolution, including its transition to a public establishment with administrative character. This change marks a new stage in the agency's organizational structure and the execution of its missions. With a significant workforce and extensive equipment, Faso Mêbo is poised to continue playing a crucial role in Burkina Faso's infrastructure development.
