The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Honourable Umar Farouk Arisekola, has pledged to establish a National Job Centre in Ibadan North to improve employment opportunities and access to employers for youths if elected. The job centre, subject to relevant legislative, institutional and budgetary processes, would provide young people with access to employment information, skills development programmes and links to potential employers.

The campaign flag-off event, held at the Police Barracks Open Field, Yemetu, Ibadan, was attended by prominent party leaders, including the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, and his running mate, Soji Adedeji. Other party executives, supporters and stakeholders from Ibadan North and across the state were also present. The event witnessed the defection of persons from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Democratic Party (PD) and Accord to the APC.

According to Farouk Arisekola, his ambition to represent Ibadan North Federal Constituency is not about occupying a political office but about providing meaningful, accessible, responsive and accountable representation. He aspired to represent the constituency since 2015 and described his latest bid as a renewed commitment to serving the people. Arisekola said he would give a stronger voice to Ibadan North Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

Arisekola also promised to support initiatives focused on digital skills, entrepreneurship and vocational training, stressing that youths should be regarded as stakeholders in the present development of the constituency. He would also pursue interventions in education, healthcare and infrastructure, including projects addressing water supply, electricity and roads, based on consultations with communities and identification of their genuine needs.

Ibadan North Federal Constituency comprises two state constituencies, 12 wards and 512 polling units. Arisekola noted that every community, ward, polling unit and citizen would be important under his proposed representation. The Oyo State APC Chairman, Otunba Moses Alake, commended the people of Ibadan North for producing credible candidates for the party and urged party supporters to support Arisekola and other APC candidates.

Arisekola, a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state, described himself as a member of a well-known family in Oyo State. He said his legislative and constituency agenda would be guided by consultations with communities and identification of their genuine needs. The event marked a significant milestone in Arisekola's campaign, with a show of support from party leaders and stakeholders.

The establishment of the National Job Centre and other empowerment initiatives are part of Arisekola's efforts to improve the lives of youths in Ibadan North Federal Constituency. If elected, he would work to provide young people with access to employment information, skills development programmes and links to potential employers.
