In reality, Boma Yangu won the People's Choice Award at the 2025 expo. A review of Daily Nation's verified Facebook page established that the digital card under investigation was created using the publication's old template.
Daily Nation's current digital cards display a distinct design, which can be seen on their verified social media pages. The publication posted a blurred version of the digital card in question on 7 September 2026 and flagged it as fake. The media house advised the public that the post doing rounds on social media was fake.
The Affordable Housing Programme, under which Boma Yangu operates, has over 1.24 million registered applicants and 128 projects on the platform. The project is being developed across all 47 counties in Kenya. PesaCheck examined the digital card and found it to be altered.
