The exhibition "Dabakh, l'intemporel" recently opened at the Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar, Senegal, featuring a collection of images and archival materials that tell the story of Serigne Abdoul Aziz Sy Dabakh, a highly respected figure in Senegalese society. The exhibition was presented by the Senegalese newspaper Le Soleil and includes 20 panels of images and press clippings that highlight the life and achievements of Dabakh.

The exhibition was attended by several notable figures, including Serigne Sidy Ahmet Sy Dabakh, the son of Serigne Abdoul Aziz Sy Dabakh, and his nephews Serigne Habib Sy and Serigne Abdoul Ahad Mbacké Gaïndé Fatma. The visitors were given a guided tour of the exhibition by Khadija Dioh, the archivist and curator of the exhibition.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is a photograph of Serigne Abdoul Aziz Sy Dabakh with King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, taken during the Islamic Congress in Mecca in 1965. This image is significant because it showcases Dabakh's international reputation as a respected Islamic scholar and leader.

The exhibition also features images of Dabakh's early life, including his receipt of the Médaille agricole from colonial authorities in 1955 for his contributions to agriculture and rural development. This award reflects Dabakh's commitment to hard work and self-sufficiency, values that he instilled in his community.

Dabakh's legacy extends beyond his spiritual leadership, as he was also a prolific writer and poet. His literary works are collected in the "Diwâan," which comprises 12,112 verses, 358 pieces, and 110 strophes of panegyrics, orations, and exhortations.

The exhibition also explores Dabakh's relationships with other prominent Islamic leaders and families, including his close friendship with Baay Seydi Thiaw Laye and Seyda Mariama Niass. These connections demonstrate Dabakh's role as a unifying figure in Senegalese society.

Through his life and work, Dabakh left a lasting impact on Senegalese society, promoting values of tolerance, compassion, and social justice. His legacy continues to inspire new generations of Senegalese people, and the exhibition "Dabakh, l'intemporel" serves as a testament to his enduring influence.
