The initiative, called "Hajj of Capability," aims to assist those who are unable to bear the expenses of Hajj by setting clear criteria related to age, health, and financial capacity. The selection process for beneficiaries will be supervised by a committee consisting of representatives from the public and private sectors.
Nasser Turk, Deputy Head of the Egyptian Union of Tourism Chambers and member of the Supreme Committee for Hajj and Umrah, stated that the high cost of Hajj is mainly due to the increase in accommodation and service prices in Mecca, Medina, and the holy sites. He explained that the prices of service packages in the Mina and Arafat sites start at around 9,000 pounds, before adding the costs of hotels, flights, transportation, and food.
